Born in 1968, Javier Pérez, after studying at the School of Fine Arts in Bilbao pursued postgraduate training at the Ecole Nationale Superieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris. He enrolled in the mobility of artists whose work is linked to the body, especially in their own bodies. He was chosen to represent Spain at the Venice Biennale in 2001.
